š½ļø HEALTHY RECIPE
Harissa Chickpea Wrap
A delicious wrap recipe that's clean, healthy & high in protein without any meat or dairy required (100% vegan/plant-based)
Where does the protein come from then if itās not from animalsā¦
Answer: chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans).
Chickpeas are a legume & the second most consumed bean in the worldā¦ behind only soybeans.
Not only that, but itās one of the oldest consumed crops having been eaten for more than 10,000 years at this point!
And best of all, it is the main ingredient in... that's right... hummus!
So if youāve ever why chickpeas so popular & regularly consumed on a daily basis in places like the Middle East, the Mediterranean & throughout North Africa?
The answer is not only taste, but that they are a healthy source of protein, high in fibre & packed full of nutrients containing high levels of iron, zinc, folate, phosphorus & B vitamins.
The health benefits are wide-ranging such as steadying blood sugar by being low glycemic, which protects against diabetes & aids in weight loss.
They are also awesome for digestion as they are high in fibre, which also does a lot for heart health, lowering high cholesterol, high blood pressure & protects against heart disease and heart attack.
In this recipe, we flavour our chickpeas with harissa paste, which also hails from North Africa originally.
And to satisfy our hunger, alongside the filling chickpeas, we have avocado whoās amazing health benefits we covered in a previous newsletter.

Serves: 4 people
Time: 25-30 mins
Difficulty: Easy
Ingredients:
400g chickpeas (1 tin)
2 tbsp harissa paste
4 tsp olive oil
Black pepper to taste
2 avocados
Wrap / 1-2 heads of romaine lettuce
Important: In the image above, a traditional wrap is used to hold the shape, but we recommend using romaine lettuce as the wrap instead to make this recipe even healthier!
Method:
Drain chickpeas & mix with harissa paste, olive oil & black pepper
Spread out evenly in a single layer on baking tray
Place in preheated oven at 200ā for 20-25 minutes, checking for a satisfying crunch
Empty the contents of avocados in a bowl, discard the stone & peel in your compost & smash the avocado until nice & smoothā¦
Chop the end off of romaine lettuce (if you choose to use this instead of traditional wrap ā highly recommended!), creating individual lettuce wraps
To prepare wraps, put some smashed avocado in each, followed by any additional ingredients you chose & then add your harissa chickpeas ā enjoy š

Warning: 3 Toxic Ingredients To Avoid Consuming!
As originally published in the 398 value-packed pages of the controversial āLazy F*cks Donāt Live To 100: The No-Bullshit Guide to Optimal Health, Living Longer & Looking Better Nakedā book recommended aboveā¦
ā¦we wanted to cover the 3 concerning ingredients commonly found in our food that youāll want to minimize (or avoid altogether!)ā¦ to significantly enhance your overall health & well-being!
They are:
1. Artificial Sweeteners:
Artificial sweeteners, including aspartame, have raised significant health concernsā¦
Aspartame, for instance, took 16 years to gain FDA approval due to potential links to brain tumors!
Shockingly, just 2 years after its introduction in ādietā soft drinksā¦ brain cancer rates increased by 10%, spiking to 60% among those over 65 (coincidence?!)
Aspartame also holds the unfortunate distinction of being the most complained-about food additive in FDA history, with over 10,000 reported issues!
Besides aspartame, be cautious of sucralose, acesulfame-K & saccharin, as they share similar problems.
2. Artificial Dyes:
Artificial dyes, derived from petroleum, infiltrate various foods, from breakfast cereals to candies, beverages & even pickles.
It's not unusual to discover fresh produce artificially colored to enhance visual appeal.
These dyes have come under scrutiny, with the Center for Science in the Public Interest advocating for their FDA ban.
Their report, "Food Dyes: A Rainbow of Risks," associates the nine FDA-approved artificial dyes with carcinogenic properties, hypersensitivity reactions, ADHD & behavioral issues.
So, if you've ever wondered about post-candy hyperactivity in children, start with an ingredients check...
3. Trans Fats:
Trans fats, predominantly found in processed foods, pose a significant health risk.
They can be more detrimental to your cardiovascular health than saturated fats, elevating LDL cholesterol (the "bad" cholesterol) and reducing HDL cholesterol (the "good" cholesterol)...
Although "trans fats" are supposedly banned, they can still lurk under different names in your foodā¦
To steer clear, avoid products containing terms like hydrogenated, partially hydrogenated (e.g., "partially hydrogenated soybean oil"), shortening, margarine, monoglycerides & diglycerides.
These 3 toxic ingredients are prevalent in processed foods (as discussed in a previous newsletter) & can significantly impact your health & wellbeingā¦
ā¦but by making informed choices & scrutinizing product labels, you can work toward the well-being you not only want, but deserve in your life!
Don't let food companies dictate your health ā take control of what goes into your body & create that health, wellbeing & happiness that you truly do deserve š
